Nigeria To End importation Of rice By 2017.- FG

Following the aggressive rice production nationwide, the federal government says rice importation into the country will end by 2017.
The minister of agriculture and rural development chief Audu ogbe, said this during a joint Anchor Borrowers rice farm inspection with the central bank of Nigeria(CBN) Mr Godwin emefiele and the governor of Niger state Alh Bello Abubakar at sunti Lavun local government area of Niger state at the weekend.
The minister said the federal government 's massive rice production programme has supply and will therefore end rice importation into the country as from next year. He added that the government are working on the providing farmers with more improved seedlings as well as extending the programme to more states in order to achieve set objectives of food security into the country.
