As the gang up by the opposition in the state continues to search for reasons to pull down the govt of His excellency, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa , the state govt has denied the claim that the state is encouraging child labour.According to the false claim, the Oshimili South Local Government Area is said to be  issuing N50.00 daily receipts to  kids of school age and who are supposed to be in school but hawking cold sachet water and other things.Responding to the obvious false alarm,Lady  Bridget Anyafulu, Special Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Child Rights Advocacy emphatically  denied the claim and made it clear that the state govt is against child labour and treats the matter seriously.

There are several mobile courts handling cases of such nature and it is our belief that ignorance of the law should not be an excuse, therefore, any child that is of school age and who is supposed to be in class but found to be in the street engaging in any manner of street hawking will be arrested to appear before a mobile court and parents of such child consequently prosecuted. The Governor is enforcing the law on Child Rights, and has done everything within the ambit of law to halt the ugly trend. She concluded.

Also in same vein, Pastor Chuks Obusom  executive chairman of OSLG denied any knowledge of such practice in any part of Asaba in delta State . However, he stated clearly that his council is against child labour while promising to carry out an internal investigation to verify if such a practice does exist as he assured that no right thinking agent of the council would ever think of collecting money from children to issue them permit for street trading.
