The gruesome murder of a mother and four of her grand children in delta State.

It is easy to forget any issue when it does not concern you or your family as people will say. This obviously is the case of the gruesome murder of late Mrs. Comfort Ogo Ubani and her four children on December 25, 2016 Christmas day at Onicha – Uku Village, Idumuje – Ugboko, Aniocha North Local Government, Delta State.Recall that Mrs. Comfort Ubani and her four grand-children were killed in cold blood and set ablaze. It was reported that the assailants raped the eldest of the children before killing her.It was also alleged that the victims had pieces of clothes stuffed in their mouths, apparently as a muffler against the possibility of them raising alarm. It was a horrible incident in Ugboko.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim visited the scene immediately with an assurance to unravel the mystery behind the deaths, and added that corpses of the victims had been deposited in the mortuary. But, six months after, the death still remains a mystery with no justice in sight. It is disheartening that six months after, nothing is heard about the case from the Delta State Police Command, not to talk of uncovering what actually happened to the family, even when the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zanni Ibrahim confirmed during his visit to the compound where the incident occurred on Christmas day that they would unravel those behind the dastardly act.

The question is what is happening to Delta State Police Command?Responding to an sms from News source ,The CP promised to get updates from the CID and get back to us but until this report, nothing has been heard from the police.Could  it be that the case is beyond the intelligence of Delta State Police Command? Whatever is the case, as observers are waiting for the conclusion of the investigation and the actual arrest of the assailants, the Police should allow the poor family bury the dead, instead of putting them through unspeakable torture and pains. It is however, disheartening to know that poor families are denied justice by the state.Let us remember that justice delayed is equal to hundred percent justice denied.
