The Delta state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP,has insisted that the governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress,APC,Prof Pat Utomi, could not become the Governor of the State. The immediate past State Chairman of PDP,Chief Edwin Uzor, stated in Asaba on Thursday that Utomi is “an accidental manager of abysmal incompetence.”He said Deltans know better than to put their fate in the hands of an accidental manager who could not even manage a corporation but ran it aground.”
He acknowledged Utomi’s right to aspire to any office as stipulated by the Constitution, but maintained that in Delta politics, he must learn the rudiments of political engagement, even as he urged him to “humbly submit himself to some political education before opening his mouth.”
The party was particularly angered over a statement credited to Utomi where he said the incumbent PDP government in the state had unleashed prosperity of misery on Deltans. For taking a swipe at Governor Ifeanyi Okowa led administration, the party lamented that the supposedly knowledgeable Utomi engaged in verbal gaffe after his failed attempt to be appointed a Minister by President Muhammadu Buhari. He said instead for Utomi to bury his head in shame after joining bands of political merchants in Lagos and Abuja to foist President Buhari on Nigerians,he was issuing unguarded utterances. He said, “After his failed attempts to be appointed a Minister in the rudderless and abysmal incompetent APC-led Federal Government,Prof. Utomi now thinks it is Deltans who should compensate him for his ignoble role in foisting President Muhammadu Buhari on Nigerians.
“Utomi should concentrate his efforts to right the wrong of helping to promote an APC-led Federal Government that has inflicted the worst form of suffering on Nigerians.
“Today, Nigeria is gradually becoming a country known for suicidal deaths as a result of the horrible economic policies of APC-led Federal Government, which wrecked incalculable damage on the economy,” Uzor stated.
