"Senator Ovie Omo Agege, the Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District,in the National Assembly,has advised,Senator Ifeanyi Okowa Governor of Delta State to forget second term in 2019.Ovie Omo-Agege who declared that Urhobo people are in support of the unity of Nigeria however,added that such unity must be based on justice and equity.
Senator Ovie Omo-Agege in an interactive,session with journalists at his resident in Orogun,Ughelli North,Local Government said that Deltans most especially civil servants,pensioners and teachers are suffering and are prepare to vote out Okowa in Delta State 2019.
“The people of Delta State are suffering. The people of Delta State want change. They gave someone from Anioma the mandate for the benefit of doubt,but he has failed.Teachers are in pains;civil servants are crying.They can’t even feed themselves.Pensioners have not received their pay,everybody is in trouble.Deltans are in hurry to get Okowa,out of Government House.He stressed that the level of hunger in Delta State today is enough to send him Okowa packing in Delta State 2019.
He assured that the All Progressive Congress APC will defeat the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the Delta State 2019.He explained that all the APC need is to present a sellable,grassroots,and acceptable candidate for the governorship election.
He challenged journalists in Delta State to play their role as the watch dog of the society by holding government accountable to the people.He charged journalists to do more of investigation, most especially on the alleged 164 billion naira spent by Delta State on construction of roads as announced by Mr.James Aguoye,Commissioner of Works and the allegations by Honourable Cairo Ojuogboh,against Governor Okowa of operating a blank budget.
He added that the State government has not been able to defend itself rather it has resorted to attacking Ojuogboh.He disclosed that his people will back restructuring of the country.“As the senator representing Urhobo Nation we back restructuring and devolution of power,but not total devolution and I will not support the creation of State Police, because the state executives will use it to oppress the people.”He drew attention to plights of Urhobos who despite their huge mineral resources are marginalize.
He appealed to other sections of Nigeria to allow the present Edo and Delta State, which is the only region (Midwestern Region) that has not produced President or Vice President of Nigeria to do so after President Buhari.
He explained in details that both the 2010 electoral act of 2016 and Electoral Offences Commission seek to correct the lapses militating against the electoral process and to check mate impunity.Where might is right.
